Put in Bay's Antique Car Museum showcases an impressive collection of Model T Fords and vintage snowmobiles that make their home on South Bass Island. AQUATIC CENTER |
|
At the Put-in-Bay Aquatic Visitors Center, the whole family can learn about the marine life living around the Lake Erie Islands. With the free fishing equipment, public dock, and no license needed, everyone is welcome to fish the bay! The Ohio Division of Wildlife runs this center, which is complete with live fish displays, hands-on exhibits, the history of the center as the former state hatchery, and a children's playroom. The Butterfly House at Putinbay is home to more than 500 types of butterflies from the Ohio islands and around the world. Take a tour of one of Put-in-Bay's most well known historical attractions. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry discovered Perry's Cave on South Bass Island during the War of 1812. The underground lake in the cave provided his men with fresh drinking water. Visitors can take tours of Putinbay's secret limestone cave, which last about 20 minutes. Bring a sweatshirt or jacket – it's about 50 degrees down there! Admission is $7.50 ($4.50 kids). |

PERRY'S VICTORY AND INT'L PEACE MEMORIAL |

South Bass Island is proud to be home to the Perry Peace Memorial and Visitors Center at Put in Bay. The memorial honors Oliver Hazard Perry and the battle in Lake Erie that was crucial to the American victory in the War of 1812. By taking an elevator up 317 feet, visitors are treated to a view of all of Put-in-Bay and the other Ohio islands.
